This page contains information about the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights as they are  also known. The Gaelic name is "Na Fir Chlis". Because of  the good dark skies and the location, they can occasionally be very well seen from Mull.

Follow the links below for more information:

  • AuroraWatch UK: This is York University's Aurora Alert web site. You can find out about potential Aurorae and can sign up to their mailing list which will keep you informed. A very useful and informative site.

  • Ken Fraser's Gallery: Ken lives in Tobermory and is a regular of the Society. His pictures are excellent. Ken also runs the musicscotland.com web site, so if you are interested in good Scottish music, have a browse!

  • PhotoSymphony Productions: Stunning pictures taken in Alaska by LeRoy Zimmerman. These are outstanding and show not only the Aurora but beautiful Alaskan landscapes as well.

If anyone knows of any other good Aurora links, or if you have any good photos yourself, please let us know.
